A commission composed of representatives from Kabul Municipality, the Ministries of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Public Health, and Interior Affairs, the Emarat Slaughterhouse Company, the National Environmental Protection Agency, and the Kabul Police Command conducted inspections of several animal slaughter locations across the city to prevent environmental pollution.

Esmatullah Ansar, Deputy Director of the Market Regulation Department of Kabul Municipality, said regarding this matter: This commission was formed based on the order of the Prime Minister’s Office and will henceforth continuously monitor unregulated animal slaughter sites and butcheries across the city in order to prevent violations.

On its first day of operation, the commission suspended the activities of several non-standard animal slaughter locations in the Company area, which will remain closed until reforms are implemented.

He further added that in order to facilitate services for citizens, and to prevent various diseases and environmental pollution, slaughtering animals in front of shops, in public places, and inside hotel courtyards is strictly prohibited. Citizens are obliged to use existing standard slaughter facilities in the areas of Karizmir, Reshkhor, Malak Rorian Square, and Company for animal slaughter.

Kabul Municipality is continuously monitoring to prevent animal slaughter in public places.
