The Kabul Municipality, aiming for better growth and development of Kabul city and establishing order based on modern urban standards, is currently planning and implementing the Land Readjustment and Urban Redevelopment Program with the assistance and cooperation of the Japan JICA office. These two mentioned methods are among the recommended approaches in the Kabul Urban Design Framework and are carried out through public participation, urban planning and design processes, and the adaptation of these projects in accordance with the country’s applicable laws. By implementing these projects, major challenges in Kabul city—such as access to public services and facilities, infrastructure, and housing in both planned and unplanned areas—will be addressed.
