Associate Professor Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz, Mayor of Kabul, on the morning of Wednesday, 16th Dalwa 1398 (Persian calendar), along with Dr. Sadruddin Tajik, Deputy of Urban Planning and Development of Kabul Municipality, met with representatives of the people and several residents of the 16th district of the city, especially to address the issue of the Qala-e-Zaman Khan area, discussing the evaluation of ongoing projects and planning the urban projects for the next year of this institution.
In this meeting, the residents of that district, while emphasizing the acceleration of the construction work on the main bridges of Padshah and Shina, and the completion of the 60-meter Qala-e-Zaman Khan road construction, shared dozens of their environmental challenges and suggestions with the Mayor of Kabul.
The Mayor of Kabul, while listening to the problems, said that addressing the people’s demands is their top priority. He assured that all resources would be used to fulfill their requests and promised the residents of the district that numerous construction projects by Kabul Municipality would be implemented next year to resolve the issues of mud in the alleys and the lack of access to main roads for the residents of the mentioned district.
It is worth mentioning that the commencement of the construction and foundational building of the Sheni and Pacha bridges is one of the greatest achievements of the Kabul Municipality this year on the route of the 60-meter Qala-e-Zaman Khan road. This was also one of the reasons for the delay in the construction work of the mentioned road. The Sheni Bridge, with a length of 39 meters and a width of 28.4 meters, as well as the Pacha Bridge, with a length of 58 meters and a width of 28.4 meters, are being constructed solidly and thoroughly over the Kabul River in the Qala-e-Zaman Khan area.
On the other hand, next year the mentioned road will be constructed in four lanes with a width of 60 meters and a total length of 4 kilometers. The project will include culverts, sidewalks, central and side road planters, stations, establishment of routes for city buses and fast vehicles, with the designation of bicycle lanes, installation of traffic signs, and street lighting. The construction will be completed to a finished stage.
This road connects the Makroryan area from the Banayi section to the Ahmad Shah Baba Mina project. With the construction of this road, in addition to providing convenience for the residents of the Qala-e-Zaman Khan area, the heavy traffic volume on Karte Naw road will also be reduced.
