To promote transparency and accountability to the public, Kabul Municipality held a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center, sharing the accomplishments and activities from the beginning of Asad 1403 to Asad 1404 (Hijri Solar Calendar). Engineer Amir Zmarak Yasir, the Deputy Mayor for Construction Affairs, presented an overview of Kabul Municipality’s general efforts. He stated that based on its development plan, the municipality implemented dozens of public benefit projects, especially road construction initiatives. He added that urban services have significantly improved, enforcement and support plans for city order have been executed, and several ongoing projects aim to further Kabul’s economic and infrastructural growth. According to him, public satisfaction with the municipality’s performance has notably increased. Following this, the Municipality’s Cultural Advisor and Spokesperson Nimatullah Barikzai shared detailed achievements from the past year. He said that Kabul Municipality has constructed approximately 83 kilometers of main and secondary roads using asphalt, concrete, and stone. In support of public development projects, 1.7 billion Afghanis have been paid to the owners of expropriated properties. Around 7 billion Afghanis in revenue have been collected from municipal income sources. A total of 455,772 metric tons of waste have been collected and transferred from the city to designated locations. Additionally, 958,518 saplings and decorative plants have been planted throughout Kabul, and road network improvement and zoning plans have been developed and approved. In addition, Mohammad Qasim Afghan, Director of Planning, Policy, Monitoring, and Evaluation, presented the current year's development plan. For 1404, a total of 258 projects have been scheduled, many of which are already underway while others are in procurement and design phases.  He also noted that 146 of these projects focus on road construction, underlining the municipality’s strong commitment to expanding transportation infrastructure and reducing urban congestion in Kabul. At the end of the press conference, municipal officials answered questions from the media and called on Kabul residents to support and cooperate with the municipality in implementing these major service projects.
