After testing the construction materials and completing the foundational work, asphalt paving for the first phase of the Kabul–Logar road is now in progress, being carried out with high quality and in line with engineering standards. So far, 3 kilometers of the secondary lane and 2.5 kilometers of the main road have been paved. Additionally, 700 meters of the secondary lane is prepared for asphalting. Authorities aim to finish the asphalt work for the entire road within the current year and open it to public use.
Engineer Shabir Ahmad, the project manager from Kabul Municipality’s Programs and Projects Management Directorate, stated that this phase of the project covers a length of 7 kilometers and a width of 60 meters, extending from Nejat Monument to Charkh Ab. The project also includes the construction of a large water canal, a connecting canal, drainage systems, pedestrian sidewalks, medians, road markings, streetlight installations, and other features of a standard roadway.
