The Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring has started asphalting the remaining section of the new connecting road from Khair Khana Kotal to Qargha, after the completion of foundational works. The road, situated in Districts 5 and 17, is designed to be 7,645 meters long and 30 meters wide. Asphalting had already been completed on 7 kilometers of the route, and work is now underway on the remaining 645 meters, which is expected to be finalized and opened to traffic within the coming week. Delays in construction occurred due to excavation along mountain slopes. However, workers from the Directorate leveled these slopes, clearing the way for asphalting to move forward. Upon completion, the road will improve travel between the northern and western parts of Kabul, ease commuting for residents, and help reduce traffic congestion in the Sarai Shamali area as well as other central parts of the city
