As part of efforts to expand Kabul’s transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth, foundational work on the remaining sections of the new connecting road from Airport Intersection to the Gumrak area is in progress, with preparations underway for asphalt paving. The road, stretching 2,794 meters in length and 60 meters in width, began construction last year and has now reached 80 percent completion. Authorities aim to finalize the project and open it for public use within the current year. The project includes a canal, culverts, side drains, pedestrian walkways, flowerbeds, bicycle lanes, road markings, traffic signs, and other standard road features.
