Kabul Municipality’s Sanitation Directorate has started canal cleaning operations along Dawakhana Avenue toward Pul-e Sokhta to manage surface water and prevent blockages during rainfall.
Engineer Mustafa, a staff member of the directorate, said that canal and drainage cleaning efforts are ongoing across different parts of the city. At present, work is concentrated on a 1.33-kilometer section in the Dawakhana Avenue area.
The operations involve sanitation workers, excavators, and other required machinery, with the collected waste being transported outside the city.
Engineer Mustafa called on residents to keep canals and drains clean to help prevent flooding during rain. He highlighted that improper garbage disposal by some citizens is the main cause of blockages, which create serious environmental issues.
