The construction of the first phase of the Kabul–Jalalabad Road is progressing rapidly, with asphalting work now underway on an additional three-kilometer section.
Engineer Wahabuddin Masood from the Directorate of Programs and Projects Management said that a 2,200-meter section of the road had already been asphalted earlier.
The first phase of the project, stretching from Makrorian Intersection to the Paktiakot area, spans 9,397 meters in length and 60 meters in width. It includes the construction of drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, flowerbeds, bicycle lanes, parking areas, road markings, traffic signs and lights, and other components of a standard roadway.
Mr. Masood added that work on the remaining foundational parts is also ongoing to prepare them for asphalting in the near future.
Recognizing the project’s importance in reducing traffic congestion and enhancing economic connectivity, Kabul Municipality is making every effort to complete the road as soon as possible.
