Work is set to begin soon on the construction of an elevated vehicle bridge in front of the Kabul Provincial Administrative Building. After comprehensive technical and engineering evaluations, Kabul Municipality has completed the design and planning for the elevated bridge and will launch practical construction soon. According to Engineer Faiq Ahmad Tasal, Head of Urban Infrastructure at Kabul Municipality, this bridge is a significant and strategic development that will originate from the Sadarat intersection and extend to the new Joy-e-Shir road. The bridge has been designed in accordance with international standards, featuring two directions, each with two traffic lanes. Engineer Tasal explained that the bridge will include loop-style ramps connecting the Shahr-e-Naw area to Salang Square and linking Salang Square to the new Joy-e-Shir road. This elevated structure will span 273 meters in length, 18 meters in width, and 8 meters in height, supported by five pillars. Additionally, the circular ramp will have a 33-meter radius, and the entire project will comply with international engineering standards. Engineer Tasal mentioned that Salang Road is among the busiest commercial zones in Kabul, making the construction of an elevated bridge essential. He highlighted that the project will play a key role in reducing traffic congestion in central areas of the city, particularly in Deh Afghanan and Zirzamini, while also connecting Shahr-e-Naw to Asmayee Square and enhancing the area's aesthetics. It is important to note that an underpass and an elevated bridge are already being constructed at the Baraki intersection, and similar initiatives will be undertaken in other parts of the city as required.
