Construction of a vehicle bridge over the Kabul River along the new connecting road between Diwan-e Begi and Mahtab Qala is 85 percent complete, according to the Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring. The bridge is expected to be finalized and opened to the public within the next two months. The bridge, measuring 21.5 meters in length and 20 meters in width, has had its girders installed, and reinforcement and concrete work will begin soon. Meanwhile, work on the remaining foundational sections of the road continues in preparation for asphalt paving. The road from Diwan-e Begi to Mahtab Qala extends 1,733 meters in length and 30 meters in width. A 700-meter stretch has already been asphalted, and efforts are underway to complete the remaining portion before winter arrives. The project also includes the construction of drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, flowerbeds, and bicycle lanes, along with the installation of streetlights and road markings. Once the bridge and road are completed, traffic congestion along the Company and Barchi road is expected to ease. Besides resolving transportation issues, the project will help support economic growth in surrounding areas
