The third and final layer of asphalt on the right lane of the second section of Khair Khana Kotal Road was completed on Friday, the 7th of Qaws (28th of November), fully adhering to technical and engineering standards. This section has now been opened to traffic. Earlier, the final asphalt layer on the left lane of this segment had also been finished, and vehicles had already been allowed to use the route. The second section of Khair Khana Kotal Road stretches from the upper part of the Kotal to Bostan Road, measuring 2,520 meters in length and 60 meters in width. The project includes sidewalks, flowerbeds, streetlights, road markings, and other components of a standard roadway. So far, 87 percent of the overall work has been completed. Khair Khana Kotal Road, one of the major economic corridors in the northern part of Kabul, is being built under a 23-month contract, of which 20 months have already elapsed. Heavy traffic and the need for proper infrastructure in the area were key reasons for previous delays. With the completion of the final asphalt layer in this section, traffic congestion along Khair Khana Kotal Road is expected to decrease significantly, providing smoother access and greater convenience for commuters
