Final Asphalt Layer Nearing Completion on Airport Intersection to Gumrak Road

The third (final) asphalt layer is currently being applied on the new connecting road from Airport Intersection to the Gumrak area in District 9. Officials say the work is nearing completion, after which the road will be opened to traffic.
The road, measuring 2,794 meters in length and 60 meters in width, has been designed as a major and strategic route in Kabul. It includes two main lanes and two sub-lanes, along with canals, culverts, a drainage system, sidewalks, flowerbeds, bicycle lanes, road markings, and other standard road components.
Engineers from Kabul Municipality’s Programs and Projects Management Directorate are conducting continuous technical monitoring to ensure the quality of the project.
Once completed, the road is expected to substantially reduce traffic congestion at the Makrorian, Public Health, and Airport intersections. It will also support smoother movement for residents and contribute to economic growth in the surrounding areas.
