The first asphalt layer on the new connecting road from Diwan-Begi to Mahtab Qala, passing through Districts 5, 6, and 13, has been successfully completed by Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works, Maintenance, and Monitoring, and the road has been opened to traffic.
The road, measuring 1,733 meters in length and 30 meters in width, features a 21.5-meter-long and 20-meter-wide bridge over the Kabul River. Remaining work on the bridge is expected to be completed soon and opened for public use.
The project also includes the construction of a drainage system, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, flowerbeds, a lighting system, and road markings.
This road and bridge serve as an alternative route, helping to reduce traffic congestion on Company and Barchi roads, easing transportation challenges for residents, and supporting economic development in the surrounding areas.
The second asphalt layer of the road will be applied according to the project plan and considering weather conditions.
