The road and bridge construction project linking Diwan Begi and Mahtab Qala, spanning Districts 5, 6, and 13, which was launched earlier this year by Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring, is now approaching completion.
The road is 1,733 meters long and 30 meters wide and includes a vehicle bridge measuring 21.5 meters in length and 20 meters in width.
Officials stated that after the completion of foundational works, the first asphalt layer was applied in line with standard specifications, and the road was opened to traffic. Work on the remaining sections is ongoing, while the second asphalt layer is planned for implementation in the spring of next year.
The project also comprises drainage systems, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, flowerbeds, road markings, lighting installation, and other related infrastructure components.
Once fully completed, the Diwan Begi to Mahtab Qala road and bridge are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion on Company and Barchi roads, enhance transportation facilities for residents, and support economic growth in the surrounding areas.
