Concrete works on two projects, including a secondary road and an alley in the 22nd and 34th Sections of District 21, have been completed at a total cost of 19.5 million Afghanis and officially handed over for public use. The handover ceremony was attended by the Director of Kabul Municipality’s Programs and Projects Management Directorate, Engineer Mirurrahman Naseri, the head of District 21 Mawlawi Abdul Rauf, local elders, and residents of the area.
Addressing the ceremony, Engineer Mirurrahman Naseri said that Kabul Municipality is focused on resolving environmental challenges faced by citizens and noted that similar projects based on balanced development principles are underway in different parts of the city.
He urged local residents to cooperate in maintaining the newly constructed roads and alleys and to use them responsibly.
According to him, the secondary road in the 22nd Section is 720 meters long, while the alley in the 34th Section extends 835 meters, with widths of 4 and 8 meters. The projects, which include drainage systems, were fundamentally completed within three months by Kabul Municipality with the support of the United Nations Office for Project Services.
These projects were implemented to generate employment opportunities and provide urban facilities for residents of less-developed areas. During implementation, between 100 and 150 citizens were employed on a daily basis under each project.
Residents expressed satisfaction with the completion of the projects, stating that many longstanding problems have been addressed and voicing optimism about future plans and development initiatives.
