Construction of a vehicle flyover in front of the Kabul provincial administrative building is progressing steadily under the supervision of Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring, with excavation and soil removal works currently underway.
According to the design, the flyover will be 235 meters long, 18 meters wide, and 6.8 meters high, and will be supported by five reinforced concrete pillars based on technical standards.
The project also includes a circular ramp designed in line with international engineering criteria, featuring a radius of 33 meters and a total length of 155 meters.
The flyover is planned with four traffic lanes, comprising two inbound and two outbound lanes, along with loop-style ramps that are expected to significantly facilitate vehicle movement.
This major and strategic project is anticipated to play an effective role in reducing traffic congestion in central areas of Kabul, addressing commuting challenges for residents, preventing lane interference, and improving traffic flow in Shahr-e-Naw, Deh Afghanan, and surrounding areas.
In addition to easing congestion around key locations such as Farhang Intersection and the Zirzamini area, the flyover will serve as a reliable future route connecting Shahr-e-Naw with Asmai Avenue.
Once completed, the project is expected to enhance the city’s visual landscape and lay the groundwork for increased economic activity and sustainable urban development in Kabul.
According to officials, the project is scheduled to be fundamentally completed within approximately 15 months.
