Construction of the Underpass at Baraki Intersection Continues with Winter Measures

The underpass construction project at Baraki Intersection, being implemented by Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring, is continuing with winter precautionary measures in place.
Project Manager Engineer Obaidullah Elham stated that, along with other ongoing activities, the construction of reinforced pillars in the central part of the intersection has now reached about 90 percent completion. He explained that once this phase and the excavation work on both sides are completed, the two ends of the underpass will be connected.
He added that following this stage, construction of the main structural layers of the underpass will commence to prepare the road for asphalting. At the same time, work on alternative routes and the installation of perimeter fencing is underway in preparation for the start of the flyover construction.
The underpass, designed from Naderia High School toward the traffic intersection, will have a length of 470 meters, a width of 20 meters, and a depth of 5.5 meters, and will be supported by 525 reinforced pillars.
In addition, construction of the Baraki Intersection flyover is scheduled to begin in the coming days. The flyover has been designed from the Dahan-e Bagh intersection toward the Parwan-e Du intersection, with a length of 700 meters, a width of 20 meters, a height of 5.5 meters, and 247 reinforced pillars.
