Initial construction Work of the overpass at Baraki Intersection Commenced

Preliminary work for the construction of an overpass at Baraki Intersection in Kabul has begun by the Works Maintenance and Monitoring Directorate of Kabul Municipality.
According to Project Manager Engineer Obaidullah Elham, the second phase of the project includes the construction of the overpass, which will be 700 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 6 meters high, extending from the Dahan-e-Bagh Intersection toward the Parwan-e-Du Intersection. He added that the structure will be supported by 247 reinforced pillars and is expected to be completed within one and a half years.
The project engineer also stated that the underground road construction project, extending from Naderia High School toward the Traffic Intersection and begun in the month of Jawza (June 2025), has so far reached 75 percent progress.
The total cost of constructing the overpass and the underground road is 1.5 billion Afghanis, which is being funded from the internal budget of Kabul Municipality.
Officials noted that both the overpass and the underground road at Baraki Intersection have been designed in accordance with international standards, and once completed, they are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and enhance the overall appearance of Kabul city.
Kabul Municipality appreciated the cooperation of the Kabul Traffic Directorate in managing and regulating traffic flow and called on citizens to use alternative routes during the implementation of the project.
