Initial construction work on the Hazara Baghal new connecting road, extending from Area 315 to Munshi Mir Ghulam and continuing to the Kabul–Parwan Road within Districts 11 and 17, has been started by Kabul Municipality at a cost of 645 million, 3 thousand, and 35 Afghanis.
Head of Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Programs and Projects Management, Engineer Mirurrahman Naseri, said the road has been designed in two sections with a total length of 6,684 meters and a width of 20 meters. He explained that the project includes the construction of drainage channels, pedestrian walkways, retaining walls, and culverts, as well as the installation of street lighting, road markings, and other components of a standard road. The project is expected to be completed in a fundamental and standard manner within the next 20 months.
He added that initial works have already begun, including the acquisition of 346 properties, excavation, soil transportation, and removal of obstacles, to prepare the site for the main construction phase.
Considered an alternative route to the Khair Khana Kotal, the construction of this road is of particular importance for the northern zone of Kabul city. Once completed, it is expected to reduce traffic congestion on the Khair Khana Kotal Road and create opportunities for economic growth in surrounding areas.
It should be noted that owners of expropriated properties will be granted alternative rights in accordance with the Expropriation Law.
