
Construction of a flyover and an underpass at Baraki Intersection in Kabul city is advancing in an organized manner under the supervision of the Directorate of Works, Maintenance, and Monitoring of Kabul Municipality. Efforts are being made to complete this major project within the designated timeframe and in accordance with quality standards.
Project Manager Engineer Obaidullah Elham said that the initial section involves the construction of an underpass measuring 470 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 5.5 meters in depth, extending from Naderia High School toward the traffic intersection. He noted that this section has so far reached 75 percent physical progress.
He further explained that the second section includes the construction of a flyover extending from Dahan-e Bagh Intersection toward Parwan Du Intersection. The flyover will be 700 meters long, 20 meters wide, and 6 meters high, and will be supported by 247 reinforced piles. Construction of this section began earlier and is currently ongoing.
According to the project manager, both the flyover and the underpass at Baraki Intersection have been designed in line with international standards. Once completed, they are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and enhance the overall appearance of Kabul city.
Kabul Municipality has expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the Kabul Traffic Directorate in managing traffic flow and has urged residents to use alternative routes during the implementation of the project.
