Construction of a flyover and an underpass at Baraki Intersection in Kabul city is advancing rapidly under the supervision of the Works, Maintenance, and Monitoring Directorate of Kabul Municipality. This strategic project is expected to play a major role in reducing traffic congestion across the city.
Project Manager Engineer Obaidullah Elham stated that the initial section involves the construction of a 470-meter-long, 20-meter-wide, and 5.5-meter-deep underpass extending from the direction of Naderia High School toward the Traffic Intersection. He noted that this section has achieved significant progress.
He further explained that the second section includes the construction of a flyover stretching from Dahan-e Bagh Intersection to Parwan-e Du Intersection. The flyover measures 700 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 6 meters in height, and will be supported by 247 reinforced pillars. Construction is ongoing with full adherence to technical standards.
According to the project manager, both the flyover and underpass have been designed in line with international standards and, once completed, it will substantially reduce traffic congestion while contributing to the city’s beauty and sustainable development.
Kabul Municipality has thanked the Kabul Traffic Directorate for its cooperation in managing traffic flow and has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel through the intersection during construction and to use alternative routes.
