The spring sapling-planting campaign for the solar year 1405 was officially started with the planting of saplings on Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan Hill (Tapa) during a special ceremony aimed at enhancing the beauty and greenery of Kabul city.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Urban Services, Mawlawi Mohammad Khalid Sajistani; the Deputy for Cultural and Social Affairs, Haji Mohammad Nabi Osmani; the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Mawlawi Sharafuddin; the Advisor to the Red Crescent, Mawlawi Hafizullah; several other officials from Emirate institutions; and representatives of the media.
Speaking at the gathering, the Deputy Mayor for Urban Services of Kabul Municipality said that, as in previous years, Kabul Municipality plans to plant various types of saplings and ornamental plants on the slopes of Kabul city’s mountains and hills, as well as in the green belt areas. He added that greenery is a necessity of life and called on Kabul residents to cooperate with the green-uniformed workers in protecting and watering trees and green areas.
At the same time, the Head of the Greenery Directorate of Kabul Municipality, Mawlawi Abdul Wakil Mutawakel, also spoke to the gathering and stated that during the spring tree-planting campaign of 1405, nearly one million saplings, ornamental plants, and seasonal flowers will be planted across Kabul city. He added that these saplings have been carefully nurtured in the nurseries of the Greenery Directorate and will be continuously maintained.
Several other participants also praised the recent efforts of Kabul Municipality and stated that more opportunities than ever before have now been created for the development, beauty, and greenery of Kabul city.
