Urban Redevelopment Project to Be Implemented in Zorabad Area of Sarai Shamali

As part of efforts to transform unplanned areas into planned areas, the Urban Planning and Redevelopment Directorate of Kabul Municipality has initiated a technical survey for the preparation of a cadastral plan in the Zorabad area of Sarai Shamali, located in Section 7B of District 4.
One of Kabul Municipality’s urban redevelopment projects is planned for implementation in this area, covering approximately 74.35 acres of land.
In accordance with modern urban standards, Kabul Municipality aims to develop new residential areas, convert unplanned areas into planned areas, and promote sustainable urban development. To achieve these goals, the municipality intends to apply modern approaches such as land readjustment and urban redevelopment rather than relying on land acquisition.
Land readjustment and urban redevelopment are regarded as effective mechanisms that can serve as appropriate alternatives to land acquisition in the planning and expansion of Kabul City.
The Urban Planning and Redevelopment Directorate also plans to include unplanned areas located within the city’s master plan in future development projects through these approaches. Following the preparation of the necessary technical plans, several development initiatives are expected to be implemented in different parts of the city.
The survey and cadastral planning process for the area is expected to be completed soon in coordination with the District 4 administration, while practical implementation of the project will begin after the development plan is finalized and approved.
