Following the completion of foundational works, asphalt paving has commenced on an additional 2,100-meter section of the first phase of the Kabul–Jalalabad Road.
The first phase of the Kabul–Jalalabad Road extends from Makrorian Intersection to the Paktiakot area, covering a total length of 9,397 meters and a width of 60 meters. Earlier, asphalt paving was completed on a 3,900-meter section of the road. Construction work on the remaining sections is currently underway to prepare them for paving.
The project includes the construction of drainage systems, sidewalks, green spaces, bicycle lanes, and parking areas, as well as road markings, traffic signs, and other features of a standard roadway. The construction work is expected to be completed during the current year.
Engineers from the Directorate of Programs and Projects Management of Kabul Municipality are conducting continuous technical and engineering supervision throughout all phases of the project to ensure quality standards are maintained.
The road is considered highly important for reducing traffic congestion and supporting the city’s economic growth. Efforts are underway to complete the project as soon as possible and open it for public use.
