Construction of the foundational layers of the underpass at Baraki Intersection has begun as part of the ongoing flyover and underpass project being implemented by the Directorate of Work Maintenance and Monitoring of Kabul Municipality.
According to Project Manager Engineer Obaidullah Elham, work is progressing simultaneously on other components of the major infrastructure project. Construction of the underpass foundational layers is currently underway to prepare the road for asphalt paving.
He added that construction of the flyover’s main support columns and reinforced deck has reached the final stage, while preparations for the installation of the bridge girders have also been completed, with practical installation work expected to begin soon.
The underpass, extending from Naderia High School toward the Traffic Intersection, measures 470 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 5.5 meters in depth.
Meanwhile, the flyover, extending from Dahan-e Bagh Intersection toward Parwan Du Intersection, measures 700 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 8 meters in height, and is supported by 247 reinforced columns.
In addition to the construction of the flyover and underpass, the project also includes the expansion of the surrounding roads at the intersection, where foundational works have already commenced. Upon completion, the project is expected to improve transportation and traffic flow in this heavily congested area of the city while providing safer travel conditions for residents.
