Following the completion of the foundational layers, asphalt paving is underway on the remaining sections of the first phase of the Kabul–Jalalabad Road, extending from Makrorian Intersection to the Paktia Kot area.
The road is designed to span 9,397 meters in length and 60 meters in width. Both sides of the existing road have been expanded to a width of 22 meters, while more than 6 kilometers of the route have already been paved. Most recently, an additional 540-meter section was also asphalted. Meanwhile, construction work on the remaining sections continues to prepare them for asphalt paving.
The project has so far reached 60 percent completion and is scheduled to be completed and opened for public use during the current year.
The project also includes the construction of drainage channels, sidewalks, flowerbeds, and parking areas, as well as road markings and the installation of traffic signs.
Once completed, the project will expand this major connecting route in Kabul and provide significant improvements and greater convenience for commuters and other road users.
