The remaining 480-meter section of the new connecting road from Alauddin Three-Way Intersection to the Takhnikum in District 7 has been asphalted following the completion of construction works on a new bridge along the road.
Meanwhile, construction of the deck of the main vehicular bridge over the Kabul River along the road has also been completed, and the road is expected to be opened to traffic soon.
The vehicular bridge along the Alauddin Three-Way to Takhnikum connecting road, measuring 28 meters in length and 18.4 meters in width, was constructed by Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring.
Following the completion of the bridge’s concrete works and the required curing period for structural strength, the bridge has been prepared for asphalt paving and use.
The main construction works on the new connecting road from Alauddin Intersection to the Takhnikum area, which is 1,767 meters long and 30 meters wide, are approximately 90 percent complete, with efforts continuing to finalize the remaining works.
According to Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Programs and Projects Management, the asphalt paving works on the road have been carried out in accordance with technical standards.
A section of the road had previously remained unpaved due to the construction of the bridge. Following the completion of the bridge works, this section has now also been asphalted.
The project is not merely a road and bridge construction project; it is considered an important link in completing Kabul’s connecting road network.
Once completed, the road will connect Darulaman Road with Chehelston Road. It will also help reduce transportation challenges, shorten travel distances for residents, and create opportunities for economic activity and development in surrounding areas.
It is worth noting that the project also includes the construction of drainage channels, sidewalks and flowerbeds, the installation of streetlights, road markings and other components of a standard road.
