Construction work on the section of the Kabul–Kandahar Road extending from Company Bridge to the Gypsum Factory in the Qala-e-Haidar Khan area of District 14 is progressing rapidly as part of the development of the western economic corridor. The project is being implemented by Kabul Municipality’s Directorate of Works Maintenance and Monitoring.
Road construction is progressing simultaneously from two directions, with work underway on various sections in accordance with the established work plan and technical standards.
The road, which spans 7 kilometers in length and 60 meters in width, is regarded as one of the key infrastructure projects aimed at expanding and improving Kabul’s road network.
The project includes the necessary basic facilities and infrastructure, designed in accordance with urban and technical standards. Construction is scheduled to be completed within one year, God willing, after which the road will be opened to traffic.
Once completed, the road will connect the western parts of Kabul with the Kabul–Kandahar Highway while providing a more organized and efficient route for transportation vehicles.
The road is expected to play an important role in reducing traffic congestion on existing routes and facilitating the movement of passenger and transit vehicles between Kabul and the western and southern parts of the country.
The completion of the project will not only improve transportation facilities but also enhance access to various areas, facilitate the movement of goods, strengthen economic and commercial activities, and contribute to balanced urban development.
